Mommy is 16 weeks now. She went to the Dr. today and heard the heartbeat. The Doctor said the baby sounds healthy and strong so far. Mommy's tummy is probably going to be quite huge in a few months though. Mommy has what is called a Uterine Fibroid within the uterine wall. This means this tumor can possibly grow up to the size of a volleyball at its worst. It likes estrogen so in pregnancy it rapidly grows, but after our brother or sister is born it is supposed to shrink again someday to the size of a quarter. The Dr. said that for now it should not affect the baby until late in pregnancy when there may not be enough room for the baby anymore. This means that there is a possibility for preterm labor. Therefore, please pray that the Fibroid stops growing so Baby Hettinga has lots of time to develop and grow.
